If you currently have credit card debt, don’t worry. You’re just one of the millions out there that presently experience the same. The difference is on the scale of debt. If you are one of those who owe thousands of dollars, then you are in deep trouble. However, you shouldn’t treat this as such but instead face it courageously.
In your journey towards getting out of credit card, here are some tips that can help you get there:
Stop Using Your Credit Card NOW!
Immediately stop buying products or services using your credit card. The first step to get out of debt is not to increase it in any way. Stop digging if you want to step out of any hole. You need to throw away your card or keep in a secure place. You can ask for the help of a family or friend to keep it for you. This way, you won’t bring it with you when you leave home, and you’ll eventually resist the urge of buying things using your credit card. Again, STOP using your credit card, and do it NOW!
Analyze Your Debt Status
Compile all your bills and make a list of how much you owe. Come up with only one list for better analysis. This will help you decide any next steps that you can consider. Such things include reducing the interest rates by transferring or consolidating to a single credit card or requesting other fees to be waived. This can be done by negotiating your credit card debt with the credit card company
Pay More than the Minimum Payment Regularly
Whenever your bill arrives and whenever you are able to, pay your bill. Don’t delay because the interest charges will accumulate and can add up to your debt. Remember to always pay more than the minimum required payment. Otherwise, you will notice that you won’t lessen your debt in any way because the monthly minimum payment typically equals the monthly interest charge.
Consolidate Cards. If Not, Pay from Smallest to Largest
As much as possible, consolidate all your debt into one card. This way, you can better manage paying your debt. If you can’t, then pay off your credit card debt from the card that has the least balance to the one that has the most. After you’re done paying one card, immediately have it disconnected from any service.

Discipline Yourself
Given your financial status, be very careful in spending your money. Buy only those you need and not your wants. If you look into your credit card bill, there is a great chance that a high percentage is used to buy things that you don’t really need, including those that you had fun using for only a short period of time. By now, you should have learned your lesson. Know your priorities.
